A book for coping with bereavement - By: F. Marcus, 23 Oct 2007
I found it to be a well-written, helpful & uplifting book. Colin Fry does not only recount some of his most memorable cases but spends a long time 'talking' you through your grief & and encouraging you to live your life as fully & as happily as possible. I read this book following the recent death of my father. I have to admit I cried through most of the book! It touched a lot of nerves but strangely, by the end of the book, I can honestly say that I feel much better. I really don't think there can be any who doubt Colin Fry's sincerity or doubt that his raison d'être is simply to help & comfort people with their loss. A wonderful book. My sincere thanks to the author - obviously a very special man.
Quality book, by a quality man. - By: A. Moore, 22 Aug 2007
I read this book on Holiday, & was enthralled by the words of comfort, support, & good old fashioned positive thinking,! thatin a fast moving world as the one we livein today, it made stop, & take stock, re-asses, prioritise & move on!
I wanted to leave my copyin my hotel book shelf for all to share, but knew I would want to read it again, and again!
I am home now & reading it for a second time, A Brilliant Read, Congratulations & sincere thanks to Colin Fry for sharing his vocation.
Live in good spirits - By: Leon, 06 Aug 2007
Colin, being well aware of his popularity, has written a book which nevertheless resists the temptation to be all about himself & instead, & with the best of intentions I think, goes through a variety of self-help & life lesson techniques, drawing on Colin's considerable knowledge as a bereavement counsellor. Mediums can get a bad press & even be confused with illusionists such as Derren Brown & Marc Salem who are very highly skilledin their own right. Whilst my understanding of mentalists' craft is pretty good (although not comprehensive) I don't see true similarities with proper (ie genuine) mediumship. This book includes an insight into how mediums may receive messages & help people. It also touches upon how Colin "ticks" & how he fully developed to much successin this sphere. He touches upon inspiring examples such as the seemingly random visitors who actually turned out to bein his life for a very good reason indeed, as he engagedin the humdrum of running his family's carpet showroom. We learn of important influences such as Michael, & Colin's view of friends & other coping mechanisms. The famous trumpet incident is gone into & described as inspiration to not let setbacks, however they may be perceived by others, to hold you down. Some of the mediumship examples & inspirational stories come from Colin's television programme, 6ixth Sense, but he adds greater value by explainingin some depth as to what he & the sitter derived from the encounter. Although the book does at times pump out cliched pop psychology, it's message about making the most of now would frankly be hard to conveyin any other way. Worth every penny despite the relatively thin autobiographical content, you'll find priceless pearls of Colin's wisdom shining from page after pagein that warm, charismatic way of his. A book for those who need to heal as much as followers of spiritualism; indeed, you don't have to believein psychics to get plenty from this book, & as such it's highly recommended.
