deranged - By: Goya, 28 Dec 2008
Yeah, kind of a grim, deranged book this one. There's no doubting the quality of the writing, I think the Joker is fairly well pegged. The biggest problem is that he comes across as just a psychotic thug. In the Dark Knight, Nolan had the sense to write the Joker as making a point about humanity's relative worth (or lack of). Here he is just a nutter...Nice art though.
Heath Ledger in the comics? - By: R. Jones, 27 Dec 2008
I suppose it was writtenin the stars that once we'd all seen Ledger's performancein the Dark Knight that DC Comics would adopt some of his style & grace into the inked version of the Joker. And here it is - a Ledger-esque portrait of Joker complete with the same facial scars, same mop of green hair, & same creepy personality. The story deals with the Joker's release from Arkham Asylum & his efforts to reclaim his lost assets along the way. Allin all the story is pretty good, the art is quite amazing, & the "re-invented" Joker is fine as things go. By no means stunning, this work is worth a look but it won't rock your world the way Killing Joke did.
