This book will take u from a basic place of seeking & straight through a place where your life can really go places. The insight & light that it sheds is second to none & very much straight to the point. Just from reading the book I felt perked up I didn't want to put it down & trust me, I'm not much of a reader. This book became the 6th book I've ever completedin my life so if I can get through it, anyone can.
This book served me as inspirational as well motivational for me to take my life into a different place to where it was & I'm sure I will not be the only one.
All I can say is, if your searching for something or you feel something is missingin your life, if your not happy, if your spiritual & want to experience what what the spiritual books talk about or just stuckin a rut & need something to change or need inspiration, then STOP RIGHT THERE! This book is definitely for you!

Novices - Beware !! - By: S. Kasi, 01 Sep 2008
I am a 37 year old India bred IT Consultant , who is just going through the first stages of the "spirituality" bite.
I have listened to a few audio & video talks of Sadhguruin both English & Tamil . He is a master storyteller & a non traditional Guru who breaks your logical thinking & shatters many of the assumptions that we generally tend to makein our lives.
I would go to the extent of saying his brand of spiruality is of the Rational Spiritual breed. His arguments are crystal clear,
thought provoking &in many instances hits the nail on the head. Some of his audio talks like "A guru always takes you for a ride " , "Encounter the enlightened" ,"Sex & spirituality" have given me a good insight into his teachings. These appealed to me very much & are easier to follow & reflect.
With this backdrop , I got myself "Midnights with the Mystic ", after reading the Top class reviews given by all readers at Amazon.co.uk. The crook I am , I got the book from bookdepository.co.uk for 6.98 as postage is free.
I am almost at the end of the book, & I must confess it is a bit heavy for a person who has just started listening (about 6 months ) to Sadhguru's talks . I have had to read & re read most of the paragraphs, to get the full effect of Sadhuguru's words. I am a novice at reading "spiritual books" ( this is my first one ) & if you are like me, I would think this book will make you feel likewise. Many lines were just beyond me . Esoteric would be a correct way to describe my feelings.
It would be safe to assume that most of the reviewers on amazon.co.uk are either fully into reading & digesting books on divinity/spirtuality etc,and have been able to pick up the profoundness of Sadhguru's words on the first take itself. If you are a rookie like me , just getting your feet wet on the shores, & have all the timein your life to venture out, you would be better off listening to his audio talks on youtube or elsewhere.
Once I reach the stage when I am able to REALISE the core of Sadhguru's teachings, I am sure this book will be a icing on the cake & I should be able to pick into the depth of Sadhguru's words, & take a few gems out of this book
To summarise & to borrow Sadhuguru's own words, "you dont need to goin search of a guru , if you increase your longing , a guru will just happen....."
My two pence.

Midnight With the Mystics: A Little Guide to Freedom & Bliss: A Little Guide to Blissful Living
Although the title introduces a little guide to freedom & bliss it is not. It is a Big guide for everyone to use as a mapin our lives. Charyl & Sadghuru wrote a book anyone can read easily & with deep understanding of difficult meanings. In fatc, these explanations may be answers to questions every human being has. An enjoyable book to take you to the stars!
Hang out with the Guru! - By: Mr. Robert E. Hider, 09 Jul 2008
Reading Cheryl Simone's collaborative, conversational book 'Midnights with the Mystic', I felt a very mixed cocktail of emotions. A dose of envy that she'd had the privilege of such close one-to-one contact with this clearly extraordinary being; a huge amount of empathy with Cheryl, the pattern of her life & her questioning nature, ever hungry for more truth & depth; & awe at the warmth, simplicity & accessibility with which Sadhguru delivers his messages.
As Cheryl stressesin the book, here is a man who addresses the person not the question when asked by a seeker, & as such can access the deepest needs & yearnings of every individual he connects with. In that sense, this is Cheryl's personal Q&A session, yet the material transcends that limitation & becomes truly universal.
Like Cheryl - & countless other western seekers- I've sampled a fair range of the goodies available at the 'spiritual supermarket'; all have taken me further on down the road & I believe that everything we add gives us an important ingredientin the 'wholeness pie' we are trying to make of our lives; but as Cheryl says,,
'This is not to say that the paths I tried weren't worthwhile; the y just did not seem to be 'it' for me.' (p32)
Cheryl points to why Sadhguru's Isha Yoga programmes & talks are different (and isn't that a claim made by practically all personal growth, self-help & spiritual resources these days?); an astonishing truth, that's hard for our swollen western egos to grasp - it is the guru himself who catalyses change & facilitates growth. Her book - written with a lot of honesty, humour & humility - takes us on her own, often rocky, path of self-discovery, & shows how it was through her final surrender to something & someone infinitely larger than herself, that she began to feel she was finding what she was looking for. I haven't read Sadhguru's other books yet, so I can't compare them to this one; however, I feel that this book will strongly resonate with western(ised) people on a journey of self-discovery, especially perhaps those who have given up reading yet more spiritual books, have grown weary & are ready to 'give up' their search. This is where Cheryl was when she met Sadhguru. I found this addressed by Sadhguru's words (p 167),
'If people tell you to drop the ego, it is not going to happen...instead...expand your energies...The ego is your shadow. It is not good or bad...Trying to get rid of your ego is much like trying to get rid of your shadow...If you tried to outrun your shadow, you would only become exhausted & frustrated... There is no such thing as living without ego. It is there, but if you are aware, the ego will serve you.'
There is so much wisdomin this book &in this being called Sadhguru;it's always hard to do justice with words & our saturated culture leaves us all stuffed with marketing hyperbole. Read this book & keep it close by thereafter.
And so, to finish up with, some of my favourite lines from this book,
'...if you become empty enough for grace to descend, the ultimate nature is not far away. It is here to be experienced. It is here to be realized. It is going beyond all dimensions of existence into the exalted state. It is not tomorrow; not another lifetime. It becomes a livng reality.'
Now there's a challenge for our times. Who's up for it?!
Peter Docherty (Gibraltar) - By: Peter Lee Docherty, 08 Jul 2008
What more can be said of this modern Mystic & Guru. Cheryl Simoni does her best to bring out the mystery & wisdom that emanates from this spiritual teacher of many. True to form, when he answers a question, another risesin your mind. Cheryl is no different & asks the kind of questions that arosein my mind. This great Being is so modern & unique but contains the wisdom of the ancients. He explains ancient wisdomin a way that modern man can relate to. He is great at disturbing the fixed mindsets that we all have. We like to think that we know, but he reveals to us that we do not know, which creates a longing & thirst for spiritual knowledgein us. That is his goal. He rightly explains to us that Yoga is an ancient technology that is suitable for use by all.
A brilliant book! It should be read by all.
