Highly recommended! - By: Kurt A. Johnson, 12 Aug 2005
Unbeknownst to Superman & the rest of the Justice League of America (JLA), there's trouble headed their way; troublein the form of a humanoid walking across the landscape destroying everythingin its path. When the JLA swings into action, they little realize just how powerful this creature really is. When this Doomsday creature defeats the JLA & heads towards Metropolis, Superman realizes that he must stop this creature, no matter the cost.

This graphic novel is part one of a graphic novel trilogy, & should NOT be readin exclusion of the other two. That is to say, it really does not have a complete storyline, ending with a lot of unanswered questions, & the Man of Steel assuming room temperature (no spoiler here, you could get that from the title).

But, that said, my eleven-year-old son & I found this to be a great & exciting story. Overall, if you want a good Superman story, then we recommend that you get these books!

Awesome - By: , 08 Dec 2000
This is perhaps the best & most daring comic book story ever told. It may not have much of a plot, but the fight sequences that dominate the entire book are great.

Its cool that Doomsday's origin is left mysterious, as it leads up to another brilliantly written book: Superman/Doomsday - Hunter/Prey.

On the whole, this is a great book, which could have been better, but not by much.

Waste of money - By: , 03 Nov 2000
The death of Superman should be one of the best stories ever told. Instead, it's a miserable attempt to get some new readers.

Doomsday is apparently a tough cookie - Superman's worst fear come to life. He comes off as a joke, we are given no details of his aims or even the reason why he starts with an arm tied behind his back.

The story (if you can call it a story) is overlong & pretty much non-existant. Basically it's one big long fight with no plot, no characterisation, no point & no fun.

Dull, uninteresting tat. If you only read comics for the fights you may get a degree of enjoyment from this title, but don't count on it.
