I can remember buying my first edition of "Use Your Head"in 1974 when I was fourteen years old just as I was embarking on my 'O' levels. Coincidentally, this was also around the time that I bought my first electronic calculator.
I was studying for something like ten 'O' levels & although I later read engineering at university & then trained as an accountant, I was thinking at that time of doing medicine & felt under pressure to get good gradesin every subject. I paid a visit to Foylesin Londonin order to purchase a number of books that I had on a list & I also purchased my first calculatorin central London on the same trip. I spotted this book on that trip & bought it out of interest even though I was rather sceptical.
We were still being made to use log tables & slide rulesin the mathematics & physics classes rather than being allowed to use calculators. In a similar way, the books on study techniquesin my school library all taught time consuming soul-destroying old fashioned methods.
Tony Buzan's ideas - memory techniques, mind mapping & rapid reading - helped me to cope well with a heavy work for many years &in fact I developed such a love for learning that I continued to read widely even once my formal education was over.
Many teachers were suspicious of the methodsin this book & thought that it was a craze that would soon die out. How wrong they were. Most books on studying contain the same core of ideas now - reading techniques, mind mapping & so on. Not all of Buzan's idea worked for me but enough of them did to make a real difference. Within ten years of buying this book, I had obtained ten 'O' levels, three 'A' levels, a degree & a professional qualification without losing my sanity & while pursuing a number of hobbies, participatingin sports & leading an active social life too.
This is highly recommended.

I have been a great fan of Tony Buzan for many years. His techniques really do work & I urge you to buy this product & persevere with them. I use them all the time & they are easy to understand & applyin everyday life. Don't kid yourself, though, you have to work at the method & you can persuade yourself that you are really using mind maps properly whenin reality you're not. The proof will bein how the power of your mind is able to be revealed to you & you feel suddenly empowered.
Interesting - By: Christopher Morgan, 17 Oct 2006 Not bad really, alot of it is plainly obvious however many of his study ideas really help me particularly his ideas on good book study habits.
I found the mind maps to be very helpful & the memory game shocked me I can still remeber a list of 10 consecutive random items & I only spent 5 minutes memorizing them, shocking for me as I have an apalling memory.
If your unsure about study its worth the cost.
Timeless excellence - By: Mr. A. Seaton, 13 Jun 2006 I was introduced to this book by a very forward thinking college tutor backin 1981/2. I was astonished by some of the ideasin it, which seemed quite radical back then. As a computer scientist, I came to see some significant logicin many of the processes & theories, especially when studying artificial intelligence & neural networks - getting computers to emulate the human mind.
I now teach, & would recommend this book to serious students of any subject at GCSE, A-Level candidates & above, with the same enthusiasm with which it was recommended to me almost 25 years ago.
Buzan is spot-on. This book can make a huge difference to students' success rates.

It shows you various techniques to read faster, have improved memory & order your thoughts, as well as other ideas & concepts. You can go on to read the other booksin the series if so inspired, but you have all you needin this one book to make an effective start. A great book, if you take the time to apply & practise the techniques.
