Utterly Addictive. - By: J. Grant, 02 Oct 2008
The hardcover edition of this book is my personal favourite, as it opensin a cupboard-like fashion which is great as it really protects the pages. Being an avid fan of the series, I took my timein devouring this book, with all its little nuggets of information & sneaky clues to help unravel the mystery of V.F.D. I also adore the collage-come-scrapbook style the book takes. A very interesting read, it is the kind of volume you can come back to again & again, especially if you re-read the series often.
One for the hard-core bunch - By: Beautiful Freak, 03 Jan 2005
This is for everyone who has read the Series of Unfortunate Events with a notebook & pencil deep into the night, juggling anagrams, noting references & deciphering the many embedded clues for would-be members of VFD. If you've read Dantein the hope of discovering more about Beatrice's identity, if you've deciphered all those anagramsin the Hostile Hospital, if you have a convincing theory about the sugar bowl secret: this is the book for you.

Lemony Snicket has created a cult following, & for those of you (those of us) who aren't content to see the books as a tale of high-jinks by the beleaguered Baudelaires, this is essential reading to help you get further into the next level. Filled with enigmatic clues & red herrings & stamped with Snicket's characteristic wry sense of humour, this takes the shape of a scrapbook of photographs, family trees, letters, transcripts of conversation, book lists, a song or two, newspaper cuttings, the secret documentation of a Very Secret Organisation & other intriguing snippets. Just don't expect clear answers, whatever you do: you're far more likely to come across new questions. Hone your observational & note-making skills & buy this book for an enjoyable & absorbing read.

If your looking for.... - By: , 21 Dec 2004
If your looking for answers to unanswered questions then this is not the book for you. However, the autobiography is truly amazing & it is very well written. If you are a fan of Lemony Snicket then this is a MUST READ. You will not be dissapointed if you get the book, but do not except anything lower than the best from Lemony Snicket. He tends to trail off the point but that is what makes his wrting so good.He is a mystery writer & keeps his readersin suspense. The Autobiography is very good.
Un-Authorised Autobiography - By: matrix444.com, 18 Nov 2004
The title is itself enigmatic _a word which here means: the title is either a witty joke, a straight forward fact that is easy to understand, a disguised straight forward fact that is not that easy to understand or isin code.

If you have read the unfortunate series by this author, which I strongly recommend, you'll find that the Un-authorised Autobiography is more of a book about the books than it is a book about the author. Maybe, if you happen to be an unfortunate fan, you will findin this book an amalgam of clues to successfully solve the enigmas of the unhappy series. I myself, have been unable to solve the sugar bowls mystery code, but I am feverishly working on it. There are some handy clues concerning the codein this book. As the series are not yet publishedin full _at the moment, 11 out of 13 books have been published_ I sincerely hope the whole thing sums up to something meaningful, thus to a happy ending... although this is unlikely.

The content of this book is amazingly uneasy to read. Whichin this case is a good thing. From the unusual front cover down to the documents that illustrate the orphans' sad story & Snickets participationin it, the autobiography is just as obscure & puzzling as the rest of the series. Every chapter has been carefully re-titled by the author & is documented with pictures & scans of the actual files connected to the Baudelaire orphans & the sneaky organization: V.F.D.

Do not delude yourself by thinking you'll get a clear picture of the author, or his life, or about the outcome of his books. Snicket made sure the enigmatic aura of his works remains even on this book. I am afraid you'll have to cleverly make your way through the hints & clues just as Klaus usually does. Still, if you lose patience you could also invent something with them or gnaw the pages away.

The most random and weird book I have ever read - By: , 24 Aug 2004
Odd, yes, but intelligent & clouded with mystery. Who is Lemony Snicket? Is Daniel Handler (The author) making this up or is it factual?

Fans of A Series of unfortunate Events books MAY enjoy this depending on their age. It's totally different to the books & is filled with complete & utter mystery. Probably the most odd book I have read but it's definately worth the read - trust me.
