If you know what's going on... - By: Constance Maloy, 20 Oct 2007
Though this book does provide many comprehensive answers to questions posedin the Person-centred approach, I agree with the previous reviewin that having some prior knowledgein the Person-Centred Approach is extremely helpful. Though the book is fairly self-explanatory, it does sometimes dip into specialist terms which led me to page-flicking through other books.
However, do not be worried. At the end of each chapter there is a small summary box which heads up all of the previous chapter neatly. Though a little research into PCA is suggested before reading this book, perhaps that's why it is called *Developing* Person-Centred Counselling. *grin*
Excellent book for person-centred counsellors - By: , 24 Nov 2001
This book is aimed at counsellors who have already undergone some trainingin the Person-Centred Approach & are familiar with applying PCA concepts to their work. If people have not yet read Person-Centred Counsellingin Action by Dave Mearns I would recommend reading it first. The book covers a wide range of general areasin which PCA counsellors may develop, using examples & ideas for application. It also contains specific applications for PCA counsellors including sections I found very interesting on mental health from a PCA perspective & an interesting review matrix using interpersonal perspectives which I have found very effective with some clients.
