Refreshing! - By: Miss K, 19 Dec 2008
Most books of this nature are targeted at either the beginner covering just the basics or they are quite advanced with complex patterns that require competent understanding. This book is great because it's a complete coursein crochet! It assumes you are a beginner so it takes you through the basics & then gradually takes you through intermediate & more advanced patterns. I've known how to knit since I was a child but I've never tried crochet - it's a completely different craft & this book has been invaluable!
The book is modern, accessible & most importantly, easy to follow!! It's quite substantial & gives you a broad range of fashionable patterns to try out ranging from little projects (brooches, scarves, small bags ) to bigger ones (shrugs, sweaters, blankets). Start with one of the little projects - this book is great value & is sure to get you crochetingin no time! :)
Crochet Queen! - By: Clare1805, 17 Nov 2008
This was my first attempt at crocheting & I'm definately not a natural (took me a long time to pick it up & I'm still not great) but this book is excellent, the illustrations & descriptions are really clear. The designs are brilliant & really gave me the motivation to carry on with it (even when I was making a complete hash of it!) Would definately recommend this book to anyone wanting to take up the craft!
The Best!! - By: A Customer, 08 Oct 2008
If you want to start crochet then this is the book to get. Every step explained clearly, instructions are simple yet comprehensive. Nothing boring though, as the writer's got a great sense of humour ! Also nice projects to practice your new skills
BRILLIANT!!! - By: J. Crossland, 30 Jul 2008
I bought this after a recommendation from a friend. I had never ever crocheted beforein my life & from buying the book on a thursday I was creating my first grannie square by tuesday.
If you read through the instructions slowly, you will soon pick up the knack of this fantastic craft - Im about to start the pattern for a flower scarf (only a week ago I thought Id never understand all the lingo & the diagrams, but again, Debbie makes it very easy to pick it all up).
Im totally obsessed by it now & would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn from the beginning.
One thing - if you read a paragraph & dont totally understand it, re-read it & just take your time with the detail & it soon falls into place & starts to make sense.
Great for beginners - By: S. Lindfield, 04 Jun 2008
This is a terrific book for beginners, Debbie goes through all the basicsin a easy & inspiring way. Some books presume that you already know which way to insert the hook, or pull through etc. Debbie takes you through all that like it's a piece of cake! I absolutley loved the book & still use it as a reference guide. Viva le DIY!
