An exciting Doctor Who story - By: J. Pitt, 16 Dec 2007
I really enjoyed this book & it was very griping. The plot moves quickly & it is east to read. It features Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor & Billie Piper as Rose. Captain Jack also featuresin the story.
The basic plot is that a Neandathal man has been bought into the early 21st Century & backin his time people are trying to change evolution lead by a woman called Chantel. The Doctor & Rose need to stop Chantal & her creations the Hy-Bractors from taking over the world.
I have read quite a few Doctor Who books based on the new series & this is by far the best I have read.
Only? ONLY? - By: dosn't matter who I am, 06 Aug 2007
I thought this book was great! I woudn't give it 5 stars but it's still very good. I love the monstersin it. I won't give away what they are(even though it probably says on the back anyway). I've even made my own two-parter version of this on my laptop! It's great. I know I always say this but I'm going to say it again: buy it!
the last neanderthal - By: Paul Tapner, 28 Jun 2007
Another novel adventure for the ninth doctor & rose, this time with captain jack along for the ride. Finding a neanderthal man has been brought through time from his era to the present day, the doctor leaves jack to introduce him to twenty first century life whilst he & rose take a trip back to ancient times to find what caused. They come across time travellers, one of whom is up to no good.

By the time the batch of books this one is part of came out, the writers had seen the new tv series & thus knew exactly what the characters were like. Andin the hands of a skilled writer such as gareth roberts, who wrote many of the best books for the old doctor who book ranges, you thus arein for a treat.

The Jack & neanderthalin present day plotline is a neat sub section, & the main adventures of the doctor & rose are throughly readable stuff, with some very funny moments of dialogue & a few serious moral dilemmas that force the reader to think about them on the way. One of the best of this range & well worth getting
Only Human - By: mimi, 06 May 2006
Only Human was 1 of 2 first Doctor Who Books that I bought recently, to try & see if I would enjoy the written series.

It is one of those books that when you pick it up & started reading, you have to know what happens next. I think I read it within 24 hours, 2nd time I have ever done this & that was with the other Doctor Who Book!

I found that the Author (Gareth Roberts) had captured each character really well while giving his own unique personal touches. Which I found made it even more refreshing, making you want to know what he'll get the characters to do or say next. Even the enemiesin this story were well thought out. The contents leading up to their background was a pretty scary thought & makes you even question yourself, what would you do if given the choices?

Over all, I will highly recommend this book to anyone. It is an enjoyable book to read, a page-turner all the way through, not to forget, Rose's & the Doctor's sarcasm.

A guilty pleasure!!! - By: Scifi Guy, 26 Jan 2006
What a fun book. The quality of the writing is excellent & the characterizations are solid. And the plot, about a caveman transported to the 21st century & having to learn to fit in, is ripe with "fish out of water" humor. Gareth Roberts has written a fast moving story with all the thrills, fun, & humor of an episode of "Doctor Who". Infact, this could easily be an episode of 'Doctor Who". Allin all, this scifi adventure is a fun afternoons reading. Another book I recommend is the scifi alien invasion adventure "GAAK" by Darryl Hughes. Four misfit kids try to save their small town & the world from kooky aliens. It's like The Goonies meets The Invaders from Mars. Spielberg would be proud. LOL!
