Utterly thrilling - By: Telboy, 02 May 2008
This is one of the very best thrillers I have ever read. The action is non-stop & the tension is relentless. It's an absolute masterclass of plotting & characterisation - even after all these years I can remember particular scenes because they have been rendered so utterly convincingly. This book starts with a bang & keeps on delivering right up to the nerve-shredding ending. There are no slow parts, no bits that you will skim, you will be glued to every single word. Believe the hype - this is one action-packed thriller that you won't want to put down & will read again & again.
one of the best ever - By: P. SACRE, 24 Jul 2007
It is funny but this book & another one with a similar title (Allan Folsom's "Day after tomorrow") remain for me among the 5 best thrillers I have ever read (and I think I have read hundreds of not thousands between Ludlum, Forsyth, Follett, Connelly etc ...). Even many years after reading it, I still remember this story of a bunch of terrorists attacking a nuclear missile silo. Vividly told, great characters, action, twists & turns (this black guy who can't read is a find !). Really this book is perfect.
War is Hell - By: Mr. Warren M. Fisher, 02 Nov 2002
The definitive action-thriller & an instant classic. Crammed with thrills & enough military know-how & hardware to fight a medium sized war, this also makes room for a psychological insight & intelligence rarely glimpsedin the genre. Hunter is the finest thriller writer at work tody, probably the greatest ever. Unforgettable.
The Real Thing - By: Mr. Warren M. Fisher, 02 Nov 2002
This is probably the definitive action-thriller. By limiting himself chiefly to one location over the space of one day, Hunter sets himself a challenge he more than matches. Relentlessly action-packed, with enough military know-how & hardware to fight a medium sized war, this is classic Hunter & dwarfs all other comersin the action field. Besides the blistering pace & thrills, Hunter also manages to cramin a psychological depth & humanity often lackingin the genre. Classic thriller writing you can re-read again & again. Not to be missed, & never to be forgotten.
The horror, the horror - By: Mr. Warren M. Fisher, 30 Oct 2002
A masterclassin thriller writing from beginning to end. Alongside Hunter's POINT OF IMPACT, probably the most perfect action thriller ever written. With most of the action centred on a single location on a single day, Hunter sets himself a challenge he more than meets. With more action than a hundred lesser thrillers, flawless plotting & brilliant characterisation, this is a breathless read to return to again & again.
