Customer Reviews

Not as good as I'd hoped - By: annajjj, 30 Dec 2008
After reading the other reviews I thought I'd give this one a try as I'm always on the lookout for new authors. Parts of this book were great ad I liked the style of writing but I didn't find the heroine particularly likeable even when she started 'growing up'. I think it was the way she treated Nick, whom as far as I can tell hadn't really done anything wrong apart from not want to go out with her once she turned clingy.

Spoiler Alert! Don't read any further if you haven't read this book yet.

Why was it okay for Rachel to spread nasty stories (even if she thought they were true at the time) & make fun of Nick & his new girlfriend? She seems annoyed at his audacityin silently dumping her when she has done the same thing to other people. Nick calls her a hypocrite towards the end of the book & I think he is right. Nothing much to like about a hypocrite. I started to really hate Hector after he used his position of power to threaten & intimidate Nick into dumping his girlfriend. And I have to say Hector snivelling his way through the book got really annoying. I can't really see why Rachel fell for him. Ok he had a bad time there but I'd have liked to see him harden up a bit....

Having gotten that off my chest I think there were parts of this book which were really good. The pregnancy descriptions are pretty spot on & there are some funny parts which will raise a smile. I just wish I'd been able to bond more with the main characters.

A Great Read! - By: L. Cooke, 30 Dec 2008
It took me a little while to get started with this book but once i was a few chaptersin I was hooked. There was a lot going on & i grew to love the main character towards the end. I was really sad when i finished it but couldnt put it down towards the end. Really enjoyed, a great read!
Clever refreshing romance - By: Booklady, 12 Dec 2008
The heroine starts out smug, selfish & vain & slowly matures into a likeable human being. I thought the hero, Hector was a delight & the supporting characters very human, even possibly a little too dreary-I'm talking about Sarah. I have to confess that unlike other readers I didn't find much scope for laughterin this book but the romance factor was superb & kept me interested right to the last page. The ending is very much feel good & I will go out & look for another book by the same author
Thanks for a good book, Debbie Carbin - By: Love Books, 21 Oct 2008
I nearly gave up on this book after the first chapter because (LITTLE SPOILER COMING) I couldn't see how any woman could continue to fancy a man who did press ups after making love, I mean PLEASE! But I kept going & really enjoyed it. The quirky, conversational style make it an easy read, I found the heroine very endearing indeed, & the way she grew up over the course of the book was very well described. The male characters are a bit two-dimensional but so what, this isn't pretending to be heavy literature, it's a great easy, enjoyable, entertaining read.
Can't put it down - By: Karen Peed, 14 Oct 2008
Still one of my favourite books to date! I couldn't put it down. So true to life & cleverly written. We always know something the character doesn't & it's real exciting stuff waiting for the story to unfold. For once the good guy wins. That's the way it should be!
