This is not a Discworld novel - Terry Pratchett has written books other than Discworld...
Occult Classic (Kinda like "A cult classic") - By: Steve Kay, 04 Nov 2008
I wonder if my writing a review for this book is a waste of time. There are already so many giving this book & it's authours all of the praise they're due!
Bravo!
But I love this book so much I just have to talk about it!
Here we see a collaboration between Gaiman & Pratchett so cleverly written & elaborate. Many strands of story converging togetherin a well ordered & thought-ahead way. Something hard for one writer to convey on his/her own let alone having to confure with co-writer on a different continent.
Some obvious Pratchett style writing - obvious Gaiman Style & some, where the writers themselves are said to not know who wrote it.
As if the book wrote, grew & evolved all on its own.
I think one of the best ways to describe its content is to draw on its obvious paralells with the widely known Omen Trilogy (or quadrilogy if you want to recognise that awful 4th instalment made many years later) & even that assimily does not do it justice.
Another way would be to say it's the "Scary movie" of books, but where this is incredibly dry & witty & actully funny!!
I whole heartedly unreservedly recommend you buy this book NOW!!
A bit of a let down - By: French reader, 05 Jun 2008
It starts off really well with very funny lines & then drags on a bit.
I love Good Omens - By: Claire E Woods, 16 May 2008
When I first came across this book I read it because I had enjoyed Terry Pratchetts Discworld series. I found it a little too funny, since I do most of my reading on the bus orin public & kept laughing out loud, but the embarrassment was worth it. I have insisted my friends read it & have actually missed this book while I had lent it to them. Good Omens was also my introduction to Neil Gaiman whose books I have also loved & I think that this book is the perfect blend of the two authors. Everyone I know has found it hilarious, even those who I didn't think would. It is a fantastic read & I wish I could find fault with it
A pleasant read, but left me feeling slightly empty - By: J. Keight, 08 May 2008
If you like Discworld, you'll probably like this. Not as madcap as the Discworld series but pretty loony all the same. There is definitely a serious message or severalin there, but I was enjoying the story too much to stop & anal-ise it! My only gripe is that there's not enough absolute doomin the book for a hardened cynic.... well, that & the fact the book kind of fizzzzzzzzlllllsss ou.....
