Essential Psychopharmacology - By: , 24 Jul 2002
This is an excellent book for the busy clinician. I have workedin psychiatry for 17 years & read many books on this subject. I found this excellently illustrated book an outstanding source of information to bring my prescription practicein line with recent developments. I recommend this book for all those inquisitive trainees of the MRCPsych Part II who want to correct their bases of psychopharmacology, place factsin perspective & learn what this subject is at the neuro-receptor level as well as for a busy clinician like myself who was unable to keepin touch with the recent advancesin the subject due to the demanding nature of my jobin Acute Psychiatry. This book is very easy to revise before any exam & to refresh ones knowledge within a few hours. The best bookin psychopharmacology I have ever come accross throughout my career.I congratulate Professor Stahl for his ingenious effort to simplify this subject.I wish other authors would follow this example to simplify this vast subject. For consultants & trainees, this is a valuable gift.
A basic book to anyone who studies psychopharmacology - By: , 14 Feb 2001
This book is a "must have"in the library of anyone who studies psychopharmacology. It contains a broad spectrum of subjectsin the fieldin a very simple language & at the same time brings up-to-date information. I found it very useful to prepare lectures for both advanced & beginner students & also as a quick-reference book to myself. The graphics are very simple, but appealing & easy to understand. I suppose the CD-ROM is very resourceful, althought I had no chance of getting through it (our library did not buy it). The first four chapters bring the basic informationin a clear way & the following chapters fill these information with very objective clinical psychopharmacology. It is good for the laboratory & it is good for the clinic.
