Easy help with ordering your fry-up! - By: R. Wallace, 15 Aug 2008
The Collins Easy Learning Spanish does exactly what it says on the tin (well almost!). GCSE students of any grade will not find this package helpful as it really does concentrate on the basics, but if, like the majority of us "Brits Abroad" the depths of our comprehension of any foregin language has gone well beyond the point of embarrassment - this 3cd set will prove most helpful! After a week or so, I'm now confident enough to order my way through dinner, not panic if totally lost & maybe even not get arrested if stopped at the airport by saying the wrong thing!
My only gripe??..........in all honesty this is a "phrase" book set to get you by & the grammar sections are all basic. But for the same pice as a printed phrase book with the added bonus of the correct, legible & clear pronouncement it is easily worth 4 stars & a purchase!
Conversation breakers in Spanish - By: Gisli Jokull Gislason, 03 Aug 2008
This is a cleverly designed easy learning CD product. This is the best set up I have encounteredin this format & therefore merits 5 stars as being the best of its kind.
Lets face it, you won't be fluentin Spanish, but this product never promises that - it promises "The easiest way to start learning Spanish" & is just that. You will get enough to make a polite conversation at the very basic level & whenin a Spanish speaking country people will respect you for it. You might even be able to handle basic situations like buying neccessary things or asking for directions.
But that is as far as it goes,
You will need to study as well (it won't help a bit just buying the CD's!) & this will not replace classes.
That said this is the best of its kind, learning this would be a great assetin Spanish speaking countries & as an aid to Spanish lessons it is top notch.
For Begginners - By: Donald Thompson, 25 Jul 2008
I have had the pleasure of visitng Spain or Spanish speaking countries many times & have a basic grasp of the language. So I got this to help me alongin my efforts to learn a bit more. The course itself is easy to understand, well structured & not overly demanding on already learned skills. It is well presented & thought through. The tutors voices are easy to follow & I found it quite useful. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to learn some basic language skills before going to Spain, but can only recommend it as a starting point. From there on the joy of any language isin discovering it for youreself.
A good grounding like this will be a huge boost to your succesful learning.
A phrasebook only better - By: Crazy Bald Heid, 22 Jul 2008
If you want to become fluentin Spanish this is not the set for you. It is little more than a phrasebook with accompanying cd. In this respect it is very good. Spanish is a tricky language to pronounce for English speakers. The cd gives guidance on pronounciation which saves the lost traveller trying to work their way through the usually dreadful phonetics of most phrasebooks. This enables the tourist to ask basic questions with a greater degree of confidence.
It has no pictures, the leaflet/book is small enough to carry around & the cds give you a decent feel for the sound of the language. Prime yourself if you spend timein the car & you'll have a feel for the language, Even the kids think this is quite fun. It is realistically pricedin the phrasebook bracket & not packaged as a language course.
Muy bien.
Excellent self-teaching language package - By: Each Peach, 19 Jul 2008
I wanted to learn Spanish but have neither the time nor money to attend a regular course - I've downloaded these CDs onto my MP3 player & am very impressed by them. The course is broken into easy-to-digest units, & you are encouraged to learn a little, then take a break.
The recordings are clear, & authentic. I felt the "teachers" were friendly & their crisp yet relaxed approach means you are interestedin what you're listening to, & you don't feel lectured.
It's early days but I feel my confidence with Spanish improving & I would recommend this course - & others by Collins - to anyone.
